Driver's Tread Lightly Education

I think the best way to keep people on the trail is education. We should press the state to make the ORV part of Tread Lightly a mandatory part of Driver's Education and part of the driver's test. This should be taught since it has to do with driving laws. People need to be taught just because they left the pavement don't get them the right drive where they want. Most places off the pavement have laws and rules drivers need to follow and that should be taught to people before getting a driver’s license.

Yes some of you think I am way out there and think that is dumb. Most of the damage is from people who have no clue there are any rules against driving off the trail. I know some do know the rules and just don't give a crap. Well that has to be deal with in other ways. We have to take a stand before we don't have a place to go.

How do we get something like this going as law?

Actually. . .since the jurisdiction of the trails is different (FS or DNR or BLM) it might be easier to have a separate "Off-Road" driver's license for all ORV operators. . .

Contact your state senator or representative. If that doesn't work, get the PNW to draft a public initiative and do a signature drive to get it on the ballet.
