The animals got off just before 3 PM, so I think that'll get 'em there 6-8 AM with plenty of time for tech and contingency, and to get over to Beatty and rest some. Steve will likely go nuts making sure stickers are on straight

They made Ontario. Had to hang around Hermiston a while for the PDX kids.

We just about lost the whole S _ _ _-a=rue on an overpass coming back last race, at LaGrande. They'll remember.

OH!!! I remember that now...I think Steve may have had an issue, too.

Got thru contingency and tech mostly okay. Steve says the truck looks good in it's new coat of stickers..However, there was an issue with the harnesses. Seems they're past their "use by" date As they are still in good shape, no fraying or whatever, they can use them this race. But they have to be replaced for next months race Ouch on the budget

The officials obviouslly looked things over better this time through than they did at Prim cause they definately didn't look at harnesses there.

That is going to hurt on the budget like you said, unless they can come up with another sugar daddy.

Did you find out when they start?

Start is between 11 and Noon, I believe...

Well, the kids are at the start area, and appear to be the only ones in class there. Steve said they got around 6 hours of sleep, and he sounded like more joe would be in order

Here goes a quick update. They got off okay at 1:00 with Jose driving and Steve in the right seat, but got in a traffic jam at RM 45 or so and got held up by rigs having trouble with a hill climb in a narrow wash. Also started to suspect trans issues, but kept after it. Changed drivers at Pit 2 with Don piloting and Jim shotgun. At about RM 102 got in heavy silt and bogged it. Real bad. That was around 5:00. So, excavation commenced. Got it backed up a few yards, and also discovered no 4x4! Ouch. Anyhow, they're moving now. Thing is, BITD has a 7:20 shut off at Pit 3, or you draw a DNF. That is being discussed as we type. If they get an okay to go, when they get in, both rear tires need changed, one rear shock mount needs welded back on, and if they can't get in 4x4, they may pull the front shaft and keep on...Let you know more when I can.

And...done Too much stuck time, and too much broke Lost the t-case and cracked the rear end housing, as well as flat tires...

Hope they are buddies with someone at the wrecking yard. Maybe Tommy's?

For the record, we had no flats. We aired the tires WAY down to get out of the silt so we had to change them in the pit. Even aired down to the single digits at near race speed we never lost a bead or punctured a tire. I used to think that we really needed "race" tires, but the MT/Rs are so tough it just isn't necessary.
