Whatever you do, I have an SM465 4-speed (SBC bellhousing) with a 205 transfer case sitting in my garage that needs a new owner. Just thought I would throw that out as an option.

You got it right. . .you have a 2.8 V6 no?

60* bell.

One of the coolest setups out there for that motor is:

Dodge Dakota Bellhousing. . .
Jeep AX15 5speed
Transfer case of choice. Is it right hand drop? If so, a Clocked Dana 300 would be the choice. If not. . .NP231.

Just talking about what would be the least amount of work. Everything is stock parts execpt for the 7/8" spacer/clocking ring for the transfer case if you did a D300. I run this exact tranny/tcase behind a V8. . .no problems period. . .ever. And I can break anything.

The SM465 idea probably came about because later s10s have the 4.3 which is a SBC bellhousing pattern. . .heck it is a SBC with 6 holes instead of 8.

They have a round mounting pattern. Clocking just means tilting it up so it is flatter to the underside of the truck. It is "no tech".

Yeah, even this old fart can do it  We put the AX15/D300 combo in my kid's Scout II behind the 4.2 six holer. Might do some more stuff to it someday :?

Ours came out of an early 70's CJ5. We got a deal @ 200 bucks. May expect 3-500 depending on the greed level of the seller. Some of the other guys may have better handle on price, tho... do NOT get on from a Scout II. They don't have the SAE bolt pattern..

Ah, I have been rightfully chastised for the error of my ways  Jimmy knows this stuff. He and Trashy seem to have eidetic memories when it comes to this here stuff
