As we approached Cliffdel, the canyon walls starting throwing long shadow and we began to notice some snow piling up along the roadsides as we exited onto NF-19:
Much to our surprise and dismay, the entrance onto 1902 and Long Meadow was blocked off:
Still, NF-19 itself was bare and dry so we continued on up to see what we could find. Sadly, the gromming ended at the snow park several miles up the road and we had to turn around, as camping there would be frowned upon without the requisite park pass... This forced us to backtrack down to the only viable spot we'd see all afternoon, and that was at the intersection with 1901. We dropped in and set about the task of situating the rigs. It took me all of about 13 seconds to get stuck:
Out came the air down supplies and shovel, and soon enough I had the beast freed and went back to work getting situated:
As darkness fell, the air was cold but very manageable thanks to the dead calm atmosphere, and we stayed up way too late eating too much food and perhaps even drinking too much fermented whateveryoucallit:
We woke up in the morning and as the darkness faded we were treated to another bluebird sky:
After breakfast and burning off the last bit of firewood we had on hand, we broke camp and aired up for the trek back home:
Of course no trip through the region is complete without this:
