Fire Closure Lifted on BLM Lands in Washington State

Spokane – Effective Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at 12:01 Midnight, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is ending the regulated fire closure on public lands it manages in the state of Washington. The fire closure is being lifted due to cooler temperatures.

Scott Boyd, Fire Management Officer for the Spokane District, asks the public to use caution when operating motorized vehicles on roads and trails that have areas of high grass and vegetation and to ensure campfires are out before leaving the area.

For further information, call the Spokane Bureau of Land Management at (509) 536-1200.
