Proposed Power Line Project

Postby Grumpy » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:55 am

I have received an announcement from the Oregon Department of Ecology stating there is a proposal to construct and operate a new electric transmission system, approximate 298 miles, between Boardman Oregon and Murphy Idaho. The proposed system will cross federal and state lands (14%); and private lands (86%). The corridor crosses Morrow, Umatilla, Union, Baker, and Malheur Counties in Oregon; Payette Canyon and Owyhee Counties in Idaho.

Copies of the project, Notice of Intent (NOI), can be found and reviewed on the website: <www.boardmantohemingway.com>. Printed copies will be available for public review in BLM offices; and public libraries in the follwong communities: Boise and Nampa Idaho, Ontario, Baker City, LaGrands, Pendleton and Boardman Oregon.

Joint public information and scoping meetings will be held on the dates and locations listed below - all meeting times 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Idaho & Oregon -

Tuesday Oct. 21 - Marsing Idaho - American Legion Community Center -
126 North Bruneau Highway.

Wednesday Oct. 22 - Ontario Oregon - Four River Cultural Center -
676 S.W. 5th Avenue.

Thursday Oct. 23 - Baker Oregon - Baker Community Fairgrounds -
2610 Grove Street.

Oregon (only) -

Tuesday Oct. 28 - Island City Oregon - OSU Agricultural Service Center -
10507 North McAlister Road.

Wednesday Oct. 29 - Pendleton Oregon - Pendleton Convention Center -
1601 Westgate Street.

Thursday Oct. 30 - Boardman Oregon - Port of Morrow Riverfront Center -
2 Marine Drive.

Comments should be submitted by November 15th. (Visit the website for additional information)

This information was sent to me as Washington State Director - I am in hopes the members in Oregon and Idaho will take the opportunity to research, review and respond accordingly to the 298 mile proposed transmission system and its location and see if any portions will impact motorized recreation on the federal and state lands.
