Looking at a Craftsman 60 Gal

Air compressors, just like any piece of shop equipment, are all about what you afford and what you can fit in your space... You typically get what you pay for in terms of reliabilty and longevity. That said, just because you can afford it doesn't mean you really need an 80 gallon Ingersol-Rand unit... Stay away from the oil-less units though... FWIW, I have been pretty happy with my 30 gallon Husky from Home Depot.

5hp minimum and watch the cfm ratings. If you plan on running GOOD air tools them you'll want at least 8 or so cfm at 120 psi. If you are just going to be filling tires etc that's not nearly as important but it is still nice to have a large tank so the compressor isn't cycling constantly.

I have a 65 gallon air comp at home I got a screaming good deal on from a family member, It is more than enough compressor for my needs and sometimes seems like a shame to fire it up just to air up a tire, I have been collecting air tools since I got the compressor, Keep your eyes open at pawn shops

Ditto what Toby said. When I got mine I thought I wanted, and would need a big one. So, I ended up with a 60 gal Cambell-Hussss whatever and the thing is great and runs like a banchie. But when I look back on it today for no more than I use it, I think a 30 gal would have been just a good a deal. The upright models also save you a little space.

I looked at the reviews of the Crapsmen 60 gal and now I'm looking at the Craftsmen 80 gal.

All cast-iron, 5.4 HP.

Lowes has their brand but... I just don't know. I'm also going to make a run to a local compressor shop and see what they say.
