Got rear-ended in the Cherokee today...

It was dark and my phone camera doesnt have a flash, so I couldnt get any pics yet.

My homemade rear bumper with the Hi-lift mounted on it is barely even scratched.

But...

Her Mazda Tribute did not fare so well.

Oh, yes, I believe her pride was hurt dearly...

I am fine, though my neck is a tad sore and giving me a slight headache. Could be a cold, though, its been going around at work lately.

It's funny, my first though was, "oh no, my clutch just grenaded and engaged!". Then quickly realized what was going on when I saw the lady in my rear-view mirror with her hand over her mouth and her eyes as big as saucers.

I had just come to a complete stop at the red light next to the Tesoro. She hit me about 30 seconds after I stopped, and there was a car just to my right waiting to pull into traffic from Tesoro. The nice gentleman saw the accident directly in front of him, and he stuck around and gave me his name and number as a witness. He swears he saw the lady on her cell phone when it happened.

Well that's cool that he took the time to stick around for you. Too bad for her too, I imagine that it will more than likely alter her cell phone habits, but that's hard to tell.

Well unfortunately I totaled my 98 Cherokee Thursday. Someone cut a left turn right in front of me traveling in the opposite direction. No time to do anything other than hang on. Seat belts worked, air bag worked, but it didn't stop it from flipping over and landing on the roof. Was a real eye opener. None of the doors would open. Windows wouldn't crank down. Crawled through the glass. An exo-cage would have kept the roof from collapsing. No one hurt luckily other than some cuts and scrapes from broken glass. Definitely been a sore puppy today though.

Yup, I'm okay, but sore, still very sore. The wrecked one is my stocker. I've still got the 96, the one that Danny calls *ugly*. Yup, it's ugly, but so far it has always been there in the parking lot when I walk out of the store......... And I've still got the 81 yota.

So I think I'm gonna start looking around for a 3/4 or 1-ton diesel 4x4 extended cab pickup. Used of course as the prices on those puppies gets steep in a hurry. And a camper to stuff on it. Won't be as elegant as Rich Man Danny and his Castle on wheels by any means.

And in the mean time I think I need to invest in a tube bender and do some exo cage work on the 96 and the yota. This was quite the eye opening experience on uni-bodies, tweeking, doors not being able to be opened without some real heavy duty huffing on them, etc. So meanwhile I'm just sitting here and getting rid of the aches and pains and letting the brain mull through stuff.

Wow, hope there was no permanent damage! Be sure to get a thorough checkup from the Doc. I had a bad dirtbike accident several years ago, and only recently discovered evidence that it gave me a compression fracture to my spine.

I am also interested in building a cage for my XJ. Maybe we can help each other out?

I've got a friend that has a tube bender. He's working on his cage right now but after that is out of the way there wouldn't be a problem using the stuff. I may just go ahead a buy the tube bender anyway. There's a couple other guys I know that want one too so maybe we'll just split the cost. Will have to see how things play out. But as it sits now an exo cage is a very needed requirement if I keep messing with the cherokee. And the same for my Toyota. There's some other guys around here that are looking at bening some tubing too, so maybe we need to find someone that has some room, and get a collective thing going with tube work.
