Ceg's 75 CJ5

Postby Beep Beep » Mon May 10, 2010 10:44 am

I know this not going to be much of a build but I am sure it will be a project.

Yes, I went over to the dark side and now own a CJ. I need to seek therapy. :?

Cutting down the herd. I traded my son "Test Dummy" my 88 Sami and 79 Jimmy for this CJ5 he had for sale.

The first mod is to do something about the shinny coat rack on the front bumper.

Day 2
First off with the top. This day was the 3rd Annual "Go Topless Day".

Odo really wanting to go for a ride.

Next it was time to swap over my tires and remove the bling off the bumper of the CJ.

Doc, Charlie and Mandy help swap the tires.

I got Odo's car seat put in and he thought it was time to go.

My wife is now trying to motivate me to start on the CJ3A project. She like it since it is low to the ground. We drug the CJ3A up to the garage on Sunday. We plan to at least put the Dana 44 on it I got awhile back. Not sure how much more we will do right now.

Here is the CJ5 as it sits right now. I hope to get a winch plate soon so I can put on the 12,000 Mile Marker winch I have.

The good news is, driving a CJ is the therapy.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

I never wanted a CJ because of all the crap I have been given over the years by many that drive them. Within the last 6 years I have met a lot of people that have CJs that are not that way and do not put others down for driving other makes and models of 4x4s.

Here is how I ended up owning a CJ. My wife bought a Side kick for a daily driver. My wife said she thinks she could wheel it better than the XJ since it was smaller. I looked into building it and found the Side kick could never be a good wheeler without dumping a lot of cash into it. A few months later I bought an already built Sami for her for $1500. She did not like it. I started driving the Sami and found it was fun to run with the top off. It got great MPG. With the doors off it was easy to pick up trash on the trail but illegal to drive that way on the street. I decided that I wanted something to replace the Sami where I could have the top and doors off. I would have like to buy a 4 cylinder TJ since they flex great because of coils but the cost is much for me at this time. I have had a lot of people wanting to by the Sami so I thought I would see if I could trade for a CJ in the same shape. My Son got a CJ in a trade and put it back together to sell. We traded and I through in the 79 Jimmy to help him make some quick cash. Now I own a CJ to light wheel and take the kids to school.
