New to Offroading

Howdy!

New to offroading, not new to the area. Just grabbed myself a jeep a few weeks ago and have been looking for the locals. Looks like I found a bunch of you.

4.0L I6
3 Speed Auto
D30 Front - D44 Rear
3.73 Gears
35x12.5 BFG's

As I said, I'm new to offroading, mostly grabbed a jeep to use as a camping/hunting/fishing rig that can get me out of a tight spot if need be. I'm currently looking for a reliable shop to re-gear my jeep. You guys know anybody on the east side? I need to change to 4.88's badly - 12.5-13 mpg is fun and all, but I'd like a bit more power if I'm spending that kinda cash on gas.

Welcome and thanks for posting up with a pic. Yeah, 3.73s are pretty steep with 35's, but if it is your hunting / fishing / getting out of a bind rig I'd spend the money on a winch before gears. Probably works fine in 4-lo. It is just that hunting, etc. often means you are on your own and a winch is a bigger help than gearing when the stuff hits the fan (except if you are in the toolies around here in the sagebrush... ask me how I know.)
Anyways, good looking Jeep; maybe someone will post up a good shop; I’m not really sure who to recommend.

Nothing wrong with BFG All-Terrains, depending on what you're doing, just ask Jafo.

Probably works fine in 4-lo. It is just that hunting, etc. often means you are on your own and a winch is a bigger help than gearing when the stuff hits the fan (except if you are in the toolies around here in the sagebrush... ask me how I know.)

Yeah, a winch is on the menu as well, along with a Hi-Lift jack and some other essentials.

Uh oh, whats wrong with my tires? They we're brand new when I got them from the dealer, but I know very little about what's good and whats not.

Wow that's cheap! I'm not sure if I need new carriers but that would put total cost below $800 I think. I'll have to keep them in mind. What'd they do for you? And I assume everything has held up well?

the reason it was so cheap because i just took them my 3rd member so it cut the labor by 2/3's. and i had them throw 5.29's in my toy

Was that Ramiro Mireles? If so, I can vouch for him. I worked with him, uh, years ago and he is a good wrench and good guy.

Nothing wrong with them? Just as Jafo? He's put tons of $$$$ into his heep and still doesn't wheel, and when he does, it doesn't cut it. Sorry Kev.

Between napa prosser and a mom & pop place in sunnyside I have about 3 years in. If I could make a living at it I'd do it again.

Peak Putters. . .as in people that Put (the sound of an old 4 popper. ..PUT PUT PUT) to Peaks. . .

The club is very old and the name reflects that history. A lot of us are second, third and now *gasp* forth generation. On the other hand, we have a bunch of new members that blended right in.
