Air hose repair

Postby Danny » Thu Jul 29, 2010 12:09 pm

Where can a guy get a new end put on an air hose around here, or does it cost more than a new $20 HF hose?

Yep, I've wheeled one of those, too...

Well thank you sir, if that works and it's good enough for you it's good enough for me. I'm sure I have one of those hanging around her somewhere!

Cut the old nipple off, reinserted it in the hose, slapped on a hose clamp and voilla....we have air!

Oh that reminds me, I gotta fix my compressor (or pack a soldering iron and fix it in camp.)
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

One thing to beware of is if you use a barbed nipple with the LARGE barbs on it is to not tighten the hose clamp much if you use one at all. It will cut the inner layer of the hose and cause a blowout. It took me awhile to figure that one out. Like I say, I screw up so you don't have to.

Thanks for looking out for us Trashy....we appreciate it. The nipple that came with the hose had small barbs on it, not the drastic ones, so it should be okay. I may back off on the clamp though since I tend to overtighten things....ask OG about my use of loctite! If a little works a lot is even better.

Never give Danny Loctite and a wrench at the same time . . .might as well just weld it all together.
