How does this work?

I have plans to sas a 2001 sierra and it has automatic hubs, how is that compatible with an older dana axle? any thoughts

I'm guessing they are vacuum operated auto locking units? The hubs themselves likely won't be compatible, and you'll just have to cap off the vacuum signal for them at the t-case (or wherever it comes from on the GM system).

4x4 actuation on that critter may be electric. If so, you're going to have to deal with the wiring, solinoids and such back to the t-case if you plan on going "conventional". Don't know if there's a solid axle that's compatable with the system you likely have on the rig...

The chevy doesn't have "hubs" it has a center axle disconnect on the long side inner axle on the diff housing. Disconnect, cap off, unplug and ignore. Do you have a lever or puss button t case?

I read somewhere that a 2003 dodge axle is a compatible choice

Any dodge axle will work with what you wanna do if you want to go through the trouble of hooking it up. Most of the time people just swap to a lever operated t case and an older axle with manual hubs.

I would rather have an older axle and manual hubs, do you have any info on where to locate a new T-case lever?

no guys not where to buy it, but in my truck where would I locate the new t case lever. No more center console?? In the dodge rams they have the t case lever on the floor infront of the middle seat, and a half @$$ attempt of storage on the back of the center seat.

dumb question but won't the Xcase push buttons still work without the frontend? Since it's just a vac disconnect, why does it have to be hooked to the axle for the Xfer to shift?
Basically why can't to pull the lines off the front, plug them, and still use the buttons for the Xfer?

I don't know why it wouldn't work just fine. I just assume there is a reason the guys on pirate swap the cases out... I wanna say the t case shifter is magnetic and the fron axle actuator is vacuum.
