Upcoming PNW Eastside Land Matters Meeting

Nope...Just notes from the Region 4 January Delegates Meeting

I suspect that the minutes for the PNW Region 4 January delegates meeting will get posted in the near future, but I wish to throw out a few items early.

On January 22nd, the Annual PNW Eastside Land Matters Meeting is scheduled for January 22nd. Top level resource managers along with local resource personnel will let us know what is coming down the pipe (big changes that we as a group can influence) and address our concerns and desires. The PNW Land Matters representatives for all of the various eastside OHV areas will also get up and speak about what going on in our favorite wheeling spots. Here are the location details…

Now to get preachy…

Given the economic and political climate in Washington State, resources and resource agencies are getting screeeewed. The state and federal government is not going to spend much money to make us happy… we will need to be more active (work parties, yelling at politicians, and smoozing agency leaders) to keeping enjoying what we have. Worse yet, the different user groups are competing with each other for resources. It sounds like the motorcycle and quad crowd have the edge.

The eastside PNW members really benefit from this meeting. It’s a great chance to connect with the decision makers. I know there is a Peak Putter sledding run called for that weekend so some of you are not available. However, if you don’t have anything going on, please plan to attend this meeting. I can provide transportation for 3 others. If there is enough interest, maybe someone with a van or motorhome and cart a group of use up to the meeting. FWIW… Curtis and I attended this meeting last year. We both found it interesting and had a good time.

The meeting is scheduled for Jan. 22 from 9 AM to 4PM. For a few bucks, the PNW provides good lunch. There are plenty of snacks and drinks available for free during the meeting.

Next…. Trail Jam tickets go on sale Feb 21 at 0800 hours. Pick Up A Mountain is scheduled for Sept 17th.

Lastly…. Region 4 donated $3000 to the PNW scholarship fund. Check out this fund if you have a high school senior looking at college. The $3k was donated to the PNW by the Desert Rats. In addition, Region donated $250 to WOHVA to go towards their rally at the Olympia Capital on Feb. 25th. WOHVA would like a bunch of folks to show up to their rally to help stare down the politicians. Region 4 also donated $300 to Trail Jam for prizes for the participants. It sounds like the Trail Jam event is a good time.
