Fire Closes Roberto's Taco Shop

Roberto's Taco Shop Fire

A kitchen fire inside of Roberto's Taco Shop in Kennewick has forced the restaurant to close down for the next couple of days.

Oil in the kitchen at the popular, 24-hour Mexican restaurant started to burn and flames poured out onto the walls and on the floor.

Nobody was injured during the fire, and all of the damage was contained in the kitchen.

Two customers were eaten during the fire, but were quickly evacuated once the fire spread to the walls.

The owner's daughter expects the restaurant to open back up on Wednesday, and was unsure how much the damage will cost.


Stay strong, I think we can survive this, but I'm concerned for the two customers there during the fire.
Okay, we're a little crazy to have a Duramax for a daily driver. But if we go off our meds, we might wind up in a Prius.

Everything I eat there is always quickly evacuated. That is what makes the Hover runs so fun.

We'll have to show our support when they open back up.

Swung by this afternoon to see what the big pink sign in the window said . . .


Will be closed till Monday 7-18 due to remodeling! There goes a Roberto's run this weekend!!!

I'll make it a point to try them out when they open back up. Believe it or don't but I can give it a go open minded and give an honest appraisal. If its better in my opinion you'll know it if not well you get the picture. :lol:

Chico's/Roberto's = Apples/Oranges

Both good for different reasons.

Chico's = Mahi Mahi Tacos. . . .oh yeah baby.

'berto's = street food with a cult following.

Trashy, you've probably seen a bunch of "berto" places in your travels: Roberto's, Rolberto's, Filiberto's. . .etc. Filiberto's in Phoenix is the best IMO, but they don't really put them in nice neighborhoods, if you catch my drift.

Update: 7-27-11

Stopped by and talked to Roberto today :lol: The almighty house of chorizo, and other such delicacies of the "Taco Truck" type fair should be open some time next week. He was quit apologetic, but I reassured him we were just waiting to help support their glorious return from the flames!

Whats with the extended closure. I thought they were suppose to open last week. Either way I'm not to let down. The food there is decent, but I'm not having any withdrawals. I have yet to find a place that compares to Senor Panchos down in Oceanside, CA. That place had amazing food.

Dude, I agree with you but we're not in SoCal, not in taco land up here. Roberto's is as close to authentic as it gets here and we're supporters. :tngsmile:
