Unibearing

Gimpy YJ has a loud squeal in the left assembly. So, I'm in need of a unibearing for the little bugger. Anyone happen to have a spare laying around?

Upon teardown I find out that what's on the rig and what I have for a trail spare are NOT the same....any help would be appreciated.

Spare is on the left and the one I took off is on the right.

There are a couple of different styles and different manufacturers of thos bearings. As long as the mounting flange to wheel mounting surface is the same, you should be golden. If not, just order one for your year. I can't remember cut off, but there are two different brake rotor designs that were used (1 piece v. 2 piece) and, as such, there are two different "hat depths" for the rotors and two different flange to wheel mount distances. All years will bolt up, but the rotor won't align with the brake calipers if you have the wrong one. . .

Doesn't really matter the reasons, but all of the Jeep forums can give you the details if you want to look it up. My best advice would be to make sure that both sides have the newer style going forward because there were simply more of them because of all of the TJs, XJs, YJs, and ZJs that had them v. just the early XJs and YJs that had the older style. The axle shafts are all the same at the outer so no worries there.

IF you go down the road of updating them, It wouldn't hurt to find some TJ axle shafts with the bigger joints and have David/Roy get you some of their cool little axle seals to eliminate the 2 piece axles on the long side and get the 760X joints at the same time.
