I am not real happy about having to buy a new one due to the on again/off again traction in deep snow, and the slightly different design. I was hoping to wear them out and get something else. But, the other three are still at 90%, so I had to get it.
The difference is that the tread is now a stepped design, and every other lug on the outer tread is scalloped. Other than that, they are the same. The changes are supposed to clean out much better in mud and snow...they say.
So, I was staring at the tire this morning, then looking at my Maxxis trail spare I have. It has every outer tread scalloped, but every other is offset.
Then, my OCD kicked off, and thoughts of cutting a scallop in the old tires ran through my head. Would it even be possible? Does anyone have a tire groover/cutter I could borrow?
Maybe I am overthinking this and should just crack open a beer. It's almost noon and I'm off today.
