5.7 to 5.3

Postby bobracing » Sun Feb 16, 2014 5:50 pm

After looking at the price of new/used car I'm thinking the Yukon is going to be around for a bit longer. The engine has about 213K, still runs good but is starting to show it's age.
The question is, can a 5.3 and computer be swapped in for the 5.7.
It's a 99 Yukon with the 4L60E trans.
I know the engine can physically fit with a spacer for the trans and new motor mounts but will the computer control the rest? correctly?
It is an SLE model so no electronic dash, climate control or anything fancy just basic controls inside.

Just thinking, swapping engine/trans/computer but would it talk to the ABS and dash?

Any thoughts?

you can make the computer control the trans and engine, me personally a simple ring bearing set of pistions and having the heads checked out would be simple and cheap and unless your hankering for a ton more power id keep it simple

as far as 5.3 i think it could be easy enough to piggy back the engine trans in
