Old Yeller

Postby Grumpy » Mon May 05, 2014 1:54 pm

This is a sad day for me, but I've come to the conclusion my old truck deserves a new home. Got it several years ago hoping to build it, but circumstances have conspired against that.

1956 Ford F100 small window
Body complete
Will need glass
No spare cutout in rear fender
Driver's door seems to be sprung
9" rear end
Mid 70's 351 2bbl and FMX auto go with it

Asking $2000
Dave

Only if I see some cash, and if I don't know 'em, I may have them help with labor

That's a cool old truck. My brother really liked it, I'll show him the posting, though he still has his own projects to finish.

Next couple of weeks it we can arrange a time that works...A guy I've worked with on the Oregon Dunes issues got it. It's going to Sacramento to get done, then back to the bay.

So lemme get this straight you're selling a great lil ford pickemup to dump the money into your tractor?

Has it moved besides us pushing it in the last 4 years? I think Al was onto a good idea (get something that has a huge aftermarket following). Health being a consideration, you wouldn't wanna keel over just to defend tractors :?:

Would ya? :oO :tomates

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

Why yes, yes I would  Lance, there's a fair amount of back story I won't go into here, but no, the Scout won't be leaving.

Rules just changed due to Jody having work and Resource Advisory Committee conflicts  Seems he has business up here, and would like to get the truck next Wednesday or Thursday...

Anyone up to some quick shuffling this Saturday :?:

I can get a little help over here, but...

Willys,Ford AND Bantam each built 1500 prototypes ,Willys won the contract. The first 25000 MB willys had grilles made of flat bar and were called slat grilles ,Willys ended up making 361000 MB,s through the war. In 1941 the government decided we needed a second source for jeeps that was Ford they ended up building 277000 GPW,s.(general purpose willys). One of the main requirements was that all parts had to interchange with willys The biggest difference between the two is the Willys has a round front cross member and the Ford has a U shaped front cross member, I have one of each. So from these photos it is hard to tell if these are Willys or Fords.

There are holes in line with the frame rails in the front bumpers in the top pic that only the GPW's had. The lower pic is too small to zoom in far enough to see so I guess I should have clarified that one.

There's your random fact that no one cares about for the today.
