Bringing this old thread back from the dead with an update.
Well, we did it. The wood stove has been yanked and replaced with a pellet stove.

And then, we were left with a big hole in our ceiling from the old stove pipe.

Pellet stoves exhaust out the rear and to the side. We did not want to have a goofy looking bend in the pipe at or near the ceiling. The installers did a great job matching up the pellet stove pipe with the old wood stove chimney.

The pellet stove sits a little more forward than the wood stove did, but I think it looks better than the alternative. I posted a pic below of what that would of looked like.

So far, it heats the house warm and toasty on only the med/low setting.
We will see how it goes.

And the MOST important thing? Barb is happy. Just one push of a button is all it takes to be warm. 8)

Building a capable off roader is easy, building a street legal one that you can wheel and then drive daily is the challenge...

^ Control arm bushings are toast....again. Will be replacing them soon with something much better.

So I just picked up a ton of pellets (one pallet). Equal to 1.5 cords of wood.
It took all of 15 minutes to re-stack on a pallet in the garage.

For comparison, this was just 1/2 cord, and still needed more splitting into smaller pieces.
