DNR-Ahtanum Fucus Group Meeting
6PM on 1/22/08 @ West Valley Fire Station in Yakima.
Most of you know this area much better than I do and have wheeled there for years. I doubt this is something I'll be able to do, but if any of you think you can, please do. If, by chance, none of us can go, how would you feel about giving colemancooler or one of those guys our proxy and sending him a statement to put out there. I've sent a PM asking him if he's good with this. Comments welcome!

I just got this as a reply today from the DNR:
I’ve been meaning to drop you a line or give a call. I haven’t gotten a hold of the PNW4WD representatives (or you, obviously), but we have rescheduled the meeting for February 11th. I will be sending you and the other groups a letter in a week about the plan and the meeting date/time/place.

No problem.Dave Walters wrote:Thanks, Clay
I see Laura has a new job title, "Landscape Planning and Nonmotorized Volunteer Coordinator". I use to turn in the ORV steward reports to her. I know she said the will be getting someone that is for ORV stuff at the Ahtanum soon. I don't think it has happened yet.

CC, I doubt any of us are goint to make it
OG is in SoCal, and Jose doesn't get off work till late. I have other issues I won't go into. You and Clay are welcome to speak for us if needed, tho
Likely best if guys closer to the situation act as spokesmen
Let us know as soon as you can how it goes

if you would like to be added to the autanum State forest recreation plan contact list (ASF) you can Send an E amil to asfplan@dnr.wa.gov
Basicaslly the meeting was to inform you about their intent, as well as the time line, they were taking suggestions, and we left plenty . they were also looking for volunteers to Take GPS quordinates of trails. to help update the trails that are on the map or at least get exsisting trails considered. also they are looking for interested parties to be on the ASF planning commitee to represent each outdoor recreation group. Waycrazy, Ceg, and Myself all sighned up.
on another note. I learned that shean Montee is also known as North Cascade investments, which is working on sub dividing his land into small parcells to sell seperately, as well as the fact that DNR has made shean montee an offer for his land which he Backed out on. He is also considering selling his land to the Yakima Indian Nation
I will post more when I have more time

I thought the meeting went well. I understand more of what they are trying to do. They are making a committee of people (from people that signed up) with different interest in uses. I think it well be good for all users if the different type users can pull together.
They are going to let the chosen people (out of the ones who signed up) map all the trails that are not on private land with a GPS. That means that it doesn’t have to be Green Dot. We would like all info on old trails that are not green dot to be e-mailed to me at clay@cegranch.com so we can give this info to whom ever is picked. Let’s get them to map out the good trails we want back. We have a chance of having them open with their new plan. Please do not post closed trails here because we do not want to promote them until we can get a Green Dot on them.
I did get to me a few new people. For one, Earl Nettnin the PNW4WDA Region 4 Director. Earl is a real nice man. He invited Waycrazy and I to the next PNW meeting. Earl reminded me I was a member and knew the story of how I was. Someone was nice enough to feel Earl in on my view of the PNW. That is going to save some time.
Anyway we plan on going to the meeting in hopes to work with the PNW on some local projects. Mainly the Ahtanum State Forest.
The DNR has some job openings for this area. Laura Applegate's job is one of them. She is leaving the DNR to go to school. See the DNR web site or e-mail Laura for more info. laura.applegate@wadnr.gov

Here is the land exchange map of Montee's land: http://www.dnr.wa.gov/htdocs/amp/transactions/eastsideex/wahtex/wahtpdfs/map1.pdf Not like he will do it now.
