Les Schwab sucks

I called Les Schwab today and asked how much to dismount and mount four tires on 15" wheels with no balance... the lady said $32 bucks.

I take them in, I tell the old guy what I need, he must have been a manager or something because he didn't have an ounce of dirt on him. I could tell he was disgusted about it already, he asked me a few questions and says "well let me see what you have". I show him and he says "I'm not interested in mounting those tires, we can't get anything out of it without balancing, it's not worth it to us." He was an a$$ about it too.

So in other words if they can't rip you off with a $15 dollar balance, or sell you some of their crappy tires they don't want your business. I'm gonna try to never go back there again.

Which Les Schwab?

One thing about that particular company is that the store managers are still in charge. Corporate has policies about customer service, but the managers are just starting to be forced to adhear to the quality policy. . .soooo. . .the best thing to do is to write an email to corporate and express your frustration.

I work with Les Scwab corporate every single day and they know that the only way that they can get back to their old reputation is if they understand what is going on in the stores. 100s of people go to their stores every single day and have good experiences. Those are typically the only ones they hear about. They don't want to loose your business as a corporation, even if their jackass store manager doesn't care about you while he is busy taking everyone's studs off. . .

It was the one in Kennewick, on Clearwater. Think I will write them an email, I've never had much a problem with Schwabs in the past.

The guys over at the Columbia Center store seem to be okay. My issue is they try to oversell at times, and the tire prices ain't that great any more...

I bought a se of 39.5" tsl's from the prosser store 5ish years ago. I was down in tri cities and had some time to kill. I figured it was abotu time to get my tires rotated. Went to the tapteal store, the kid pulled my truck in then teh manager came out and said he wouldnt touch my truck because the tires were too big and I didnt buy them from schwabs.... I showed him the paperwork but he didnt budge.

Not a biggy, but the guy was a prick about it.

Ive had sweet luck with the richland schwabs. The sunnyside store is the best Ive ever dealt with, they beat everyones price on my old sx's by $30 out the door.

the richland schwabs is way better than kenniwick then the other smaller town stores are friendlier with big tires because they want more customers

Just got back from puter tires on the Excursion at Lester's by Columbia Center. Price was higher than Big-O, but they got me right in and took care of business in a hurry.

Mater looks badass now. . .

Yea a few of my wheels didn't have any weights left. I took my new tires over to my grandpas house and used his bubble balancer, free and done in about 5 minutes.

I used air solf pellets in my tires for centrifical ballancing. it even helped with the flat spots on my bias tires a little. there is a thread on The EWOR board I will post for you when I can get to it

I've always had good luck w/Les Schlob until a couple years ago----needed new skins for my F-150 17" stock wheel. Went to Richland Swabs, and asked for an on-off road tire in a load range "E" because the stock Goodyear "C" squatted quite a bit when I put the camper on it. The manager told me they did not exist, nobody makes a load range "E" tire for a 17" rim!! Then he tried to sell me some of his Suck Country tires, while I was thinking about all the new Ram 3/4 & 1 ton pickups w/michelins on them. Hmmm, so I went to a shop that sold Michs and there they were!! Imagine that, 17" w/load range "E"!!! I bought 'em and drove straight to Liarester Schlobs-----the manager saw me pull up and went and hid in the back! So I showed one of his Gomers "that came running" my new tires and to re-train his boss. Never been back since. That's my story. had to vent.

Dave, if you haven't gotten the tires mounted yet check with Tri-City Battery on Jerico off of Queensgate. They swapped my wheel's and tires - 33's - for me right after I got my YJ. I called around and they were the best price and did it with a smile.

On the other hand, they charged me $40 to tell me that it would be $200 to tell me what was wrong with my AC system. . .

Danny, I ended up taking them to the little tire place in downtown Kennewick across from Zips, not sure the name of it but they dismounted and remounted all 4 for $30 and were done real quick. I'll have to keep Tri-City Battery in mind too for next time.

Next time you just want to mount/dismount tires let me know... I have a hydraulic bead breaker and Im looking for a good tire bar. I found the spoons but I still need a good bar.

No doubt spoons are great! Ive mounted/dismounted most of the tires Ive done with 2 big screwdrivers...

i wont give those crooks one penny of my business, they have tried to kill 1 my father, and 2 my friends family from high school. my dad just had tires put on his 76 250 highboy which we used to have a camper on, and shortly after leaving on a trip to the mountains he hit dirt and so did the whole rim and tire off to the rear axle.... great service. my friends dad had a motor home that was a dualy rear he had new tires put on at schawbs on his wayback form their vacation the both rear tires on the one side were gone pushing the propane tank through the floor into the motor home this all at 65mph....great service again.

my friend tim has a Plymouth valiant that has reverse threaded studs, he went in for new tires, told them REPEATEDLY that they are reverse thread. the kid says ok ok ok. he goes in to pay and hears POP POP POP runs out and the kid had 3 out of 5 studs broken.
