FYBR prep headaches . . .

Postby Roman » Sun Nov 23, 2008 5:51 pm

So I got the MH all squared away this morning, I even got the awning working right! After moving on to the jeep, I find I forgot I wasted a u-joint at Weber, no big deal! I even took the time to FINALLY upgrade from a strap style yoke to a u-bolt style yoke. After wrestling with the u-joints I took it for a short drive to warm up the oil for an oil change.

Thump thump thump . . .

I guess not only did I throw a u-joint, I also bent my driveline! There also seems to be a little twist i it too!!! No way around it, I gotta retube the driveline
Time is getting short with thanksgiving, FYBR, and the Henderson race all within the next two weeks

How do you guys keep breaking stuff at webber? Yea I know I've got the big tired yotarded truck and all but technically I should be breaking while you guys go right through... Axle shafts, u-joints, drivelines sheesh, I'm impressed!

Ryan, I broke a strap for the front u-joint and while it was flopping around it got a little bent!

That'll do it!

I've seen a few drivelines made out of 44 axle shafts.... Porter runs them in his buggy. I guess that's all S&N makes for the buggies. Neat idea.

You jinxed me!!!!

I spit a cap out of the rearest driveline u-joint and didn't even notice it!! So. . .I guess I'll be hitting the parts store tomorrow as well.

Good news: The new steering box is IN!! Seems to work, but I won't really know until tomorrow when I pull it off of the trailer and bleed the system.

So. . .yeah. . .the Transfer Case is broken. Don't know what yet, but I'll tryand pull it apart tomorrow to fix it. It kind of blindsided me when I went to fix the u-joint just now.

I'm totally bummed. . .We'll probably still go and just take mater to find a sled hill while everyone wheels. Maybe Brooke would like to hang with us. . .anyway. Dag nabit.

Didn't even touch it. I'm sure the clocking ring bolts backed out, but I'm just going to go and relax. I've been burning the candle at both ends and don't want to end up sick before the race. If there is room on the run, we might jump in with Toby or something. . .but other wise, we'll find a sled hill, tell stories, kick the fire. . .good times.

It was the Jeep. The sami isn't close yet. Thanks for the offer. I really appreciate it, but the sami has a good case.

WAS. . .I'm moving forward on it. Look at the LG build thread in the projects section.

It is a father/son project. I'd really like some 31" Terra Tires for it for next year's FYBR. 8)
